As a member of that unit, Mike primarily prosecuted juvenile offenders and child in need of care petitions. After being promoted and reassigned to the Adult Felony Division, Mike prosecuted a wide range of cases, including homicide, sex offenses, child exploitation and abuse, drug distribution, property offenses, domestic violence and many other violent crimes. Mike was eventually promoted to Senior Assistant District Attorney and also served as a Special Assistant Attorney General. Kagay is a member of various law enforcement focused boards and organizations.
Mike completed his undergraduate studies in English from Washburn University in 2005, and his Juris Doctor degree from the Washburn University School of Law. Mike entered law school with the goal of becoming a prosecutor in Shawnee County, and was quickly able to realize that dream. He is grateful for the opportunity to pursue his passion of protecting the innocent, seeking justice, and being the voice of those who cannot speak for themselves.
Mike is committed to running an efficient office focused on protecting the citizens and families in our community. He lives in Topeka with his wife Hannah and their four children. The Kagay family is proud to call Shawnee County home.
